Can I use my WOO for snowkiting?

It’s coming up to that time of year again when the Northern Hemisphere is starting to cool down, the winter jackets are coming out, the snowboards and skis being sharpened up, and the hunt for some open snowy land is on every snowkiters mind.

We wanted to write this blog post to all our current WOO users who are asking, “Can I use my WOO snow kiting?”

The short answer is, no, the WOO does not work for snow kiting. The algorithm was developed for jumps off the water surface, and does not work for long gliding jumps commonly seen in snowkiting, especially jumps in terrain. It’s like using your wakeboard to go snowboarding – not ideal!

Now, we’ve seen a few landboarders, windsurfers and wakeboarders use their WOO to record jumps, and it seems to deliver decent results to them, though our only concern is to maintain the Global Leaderboards for kiteboarders only.  So, if you want to try out the WOO in snowkiting, it might give you acceptable results off of e.g a lake or flat field, and feel free to use it download the session to the app, but we’d ask that you simply do not publish the session. But please note: Neither the mount nor the device was developed for cold conditions, so we will not replace a WOO lost or damaged in the snow.

Hope this helps! If you have any more questions, hit us up on
